Hotel Gotham, back in 1920s New York

In an Art Deco building near Piccadilly Gardens, Hotel Gotham in Manchester harks back to the Roaring Twenties.

Even though the Batman, birthed in fictitious Gotham City, is only a distant reference point, do not expect to bump into him in a corridor. Before anything else, Hotel Gotham is a tribute to 1920s New York City. Enter a time capsule through an Art Deco lobby built in 1928, now a testimony of those prosperous years.

Nicknamed “King of King Street”, the building stands out in the neighbourhood, among Manchester's posh boutiques. The hotel bets on refined eccentricity, using monochrome rugs of various geometrical patterns on the floor of the 60 bedrooms, fake furs as bedspreads, vintage suitcases scattered here and there… Do not forget to stop by the rooftop, Hotel Gotham's showpiece, as it is popular all around Manchester for the panoramic views it holds over the city.
