Reservation Conditions for Seat Plus

The present Conditions are an integral part of the general conditions as defined in the "Legal notices" section.
Any Customer who reserves a Seat is deemed to be familiar with and have accepted the present Reservation Conditions.

Conditions for reserving Seat Plus on Air France flights

1 - Definitions

The terms and expressions used in the present Reservation Conditions are defined as follows:

- "Customer": a physical person, a major, with a reservation in Economy class on a Long-Haul Flight, holding an electronic ticket and wishing to reserve a Seat.

- "Air France": Société Air France, a joint-stock company incorporated under French law, with a registered office at 45 rue de Paris, F-95747 Roissy CDG Cedex, France, and registered with the Corporate and Trade Register of Bobigny under number 420 495 178.
Air France advises that all persons of reduced mobility who have special needs, notably those requiring more leg room, contact SAPHIR services (via the "Contact us" section of our website) prior to reserving a Seat.

- "Economy cabin": area aboard the aircraft for customers who have purchased an economy fare ticket.

- "Reservation Conditions" or "Conditions": the present conditions defining the Seat reservation conditions.

- "Option": opportunity offered to Customer to reserve a Seat under the Present Defined Conditions, subject to availability.

- "Price": the price of a Seat reservation, that is, fifty (50) or seventy (70) euros all taxes included (or the equivalent amount in local currency on the websites listed below; the price is rounded to the nearest whole unit and varies according to exchange rates, which are revised twice a year).

- "Seat": a seat in Economy class that has a greater amount of leg room than the standard model for this class and can be reserved by a Customer in the present defined conditions. The Seat is highlighted on cabin layouts during the online reservation or check-in process. Seats may be located:
- near emergency exit doors,
- near offices or toilets,
- on the upper deck of the B747 or A380 aircraft.

- "Websites": the following websites, accessible via Algeria, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, France, French Guiana, French Polynesia, Germany, Greece, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Hong Kong, Hungary, Mauritius, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Martinique, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Reunion, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Venezuela, Vietnam.

- "Long-Haul Flights": A long-haul flight with an AF flight number and operated by Air France, offering the opportunity to reserve a Seat.

2 - Reservation Conditions for a seat with guaranteed extra leg room

2.1 A Customer may reserve a Seat Plus for certain Air France long-haul flights when purchasing his ticket online or through his mobile phone, when checking in on the Internet (and as such, when (s)he is issued with a boarding pass), at certain Air France Self-Service Kiosks, or at check-in desks when departing from Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Bordeaux.
A customer traveling on a Flying Blue Award ticket or a group ticket can reserve a Seat Plus only when checking in online.

2.2 The Option is subject to additional payment and is offered exclusively to Customers traveling in Economy class.

2.3 The Option is only offered on certain Air France long-haul flights, through the above-named websites, in certain airoports with Air France Self-Service Kiosks, and at check-in desks when departing from Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Bordeaux.

2.4 The Customer must make payment for the Option using one of the following payment cards: American Express, Mastercard/Eurocard, Visa, Diners, UATP, JCB.

2.5 Air France will make its best effort to respect the Seat assignment reserved according to the present Conditions. The Customer is informed by the Present Defined Conditions that Air France may be required for operational reasons related to security and/or safety measures, or operational irregularities to modify Seat assignments, even after boarding.
In this case, Air France cannot be held responsible, and the Customer, not benefiting from a Seat reserved under the Present Defined Conditions, will be reimbursed the Price of the Seat according to the modalities defined in Article 4 below.

2.6 A Seat reserved by a Customer is personal and not assignable.

2.7 A Seat reserved by a Customer may be transferred to another flight. To do so, the Customer must contact the point of sale, no later than 48 hours prior to departure.

3 - Conditions for occupying Seats

3.1 By reserving a Seat, the Customer agrees to meet the following cumulative conditions:

(i) the Customer must possess the capacity to contract
(ii) if the Customer chooses a Seat located near an emergency exit, (s)he must be able to assist in the event of an evacuation and must therefore fulfil the attribution criteria defined by air regulations: for safety and security reasons, occupancy of these seats is limited to passengers able to understand safety instructions and meet the physical requirements as described by Air France airport personnel and cabin crew.

This provision, undertaken in an effort to facilitate rapid access to emergency exits, requires the area to be free of all carry-on items during take-off and landing, and excludes assignment to or occupancy of these seats by the following persons:

- Passengers with reduced mobility (travelling with or without a service animal)
- Pregnant women
- Passengers whose body mass or weight would restrict access to an emergency exit
- Children (ages 2 to 11) and babies, regardless of whether they are accompanied
- Passengers travelling with a pet in the cabin
- Passengers unable to fully understand or communicate in either the French or English language

3.2 During Seat reservation, the Customer agrees to provide precise information to Air France. No reservation will be registered if the Customer does not meet the Present Defined Conditions.

3.3. The Customer reserving a Seat can only do so for him/herself or for a person who has duly assigned the Customer the authority to reserve a Seat in their name and for their account, hereafter named "Mandate Passenger". In this situation, the Mandate Passenger is deemed to be familiar with and have accepted the present Conditions, and the Customer guarantees the respect of the Mandate Passenger for all the present Conditions.

4 - Refund Conditions

4.1 A Customer who has reserved a Seat may only obtain a refund for the Price of the Seat in the following situations:

- the flight on which they reserved the Seat is cancelled
- the Seat was not assigned to the Customer by Air France.

4.2 The Customer may request a refund for the Price of a Seat by filling out an online claim, accessible via the "Contact us" section.

4.3 A Customer who has reserved a Seat will not be able to obtain a refund of the Price of the Seat notably in the event that the s(he) has not respected or fulfilled the present conditions or if s(he) is upgraded to Premium Economy, Business or La Première / First.

5 - Various

5.1. Customers holding Air France and KLM Flying Blue Gold or Platinum cards, or Club 2000 cards, can reserve a Seat, free of charge, by entering their card number at the moment of purchase of their e-ticket. If they do not identify themselves at the moment of purchase of their ticket, they can reserve a Seat at the present defined price.

General conditions for Economy Comfort seats on KLM flights

1. Economy Comfort seats

1.1 Economy Comfort seats are available in the Economy Comfort zone and in Economy class on intercontinental KLM and Delta Air Lines flights and European KLM flights operated by a Boeing 737. Economy Comfort seats are subject to availability and involve an additional fee.

1.2 Flying Blue Platinum members and SkyMiles Platinum and Diamond members may book an Economy Comfort seat at no charge. Flying Blue Gold and Silver members, SkyMiles Gold and Silver members and SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus members (on Delta Air Lines flights only) can book an Economy Comfort seat at a discount rate. To use these advantages, customers must log in as Flying Blue, SkyMiles or SkyTeam members when booking. In all other cases, Flying Blue, SkyMiles and SkyTeam members may book an Economy Comfort seat at the regular fare.

1.3 We shall make every reasonable effort to fill your request for an Economy Comfort seat. However, we reserve the right to assign or reassign an Economy Comfort seat at any time, even after boarding of the aircraft, for operational, safety or security reasons. The final decision will be made by the ground staff and the operating crew on the day of the flight.

2. Requirements and eligibility

2.1 To purchase an Economy Comfort seat, you certify that you possess the legal authority to enter into this agreement, and subsequently to be bound by the terms and conditions of this agreement.

2.2 In addition, you certify that all information supplied by you in a request for a particular seat is accurate and that your reservation is not speculative, false or fraudulent. You also certify that your reservation is for yourself, or for another person on whose behalf you are entitled to act. This person must also comply with the requirements set out in paragraph 2.1.

3. Refund

3.1 In the event that you are not assigned an Economy Comfort seat after purchase, you are entitled to a refund representing the amount paid for the specific portion of your trip in which an Economy Comfort seat was not provided only if:
(I) you were rebooked on another flight:
  • at your request and you purchased an Economy Comfort seat on your new flight,
  • by KLM, for operational reasons or because your flight was canceled,
  • because you missed your connecting flight after an inbound flight on KLM, Delta Air Lines or any other SkyTeam airline and you were not provided with an Economy Comfort seat on the alternate flight;
(II) we changed the aircraft type and there were no Economy Comfort seats available on the alternative aircraft;

(III) we used our right to assign or reassign your Economy Comfort seat either before or after boarding for operational, safety or security reasons.

3.2 You can request your refund by submitting a refund request form available here.

3.3 No refund will be made if you do not meet the criteria listed above.


This service is used to offer you an Economy Comfort seat in the Economy class when and if available. While Economy Comfort seats provide extra leg room and more seat recline, the services offered in the Economy Comfort zone are identical to those provided in the standard Economy class. For example, this zone receives the standard Economy class meal service.
